Ingredients
  

  • Cake:
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Buttercream Frosting Optional:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 –3 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch cake pans.
  • Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs, then vanilla.
  • Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk. Mix until combined.
  • Divide batter, bake for 25–30 minutes. Cool cakes.
  • Frost with buttercream, decorate as desired.
