Ingredients
  

  • For the Cake:
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • For the Frosting:
  • 1 ½ cups unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 –4 tbsp heavy cream
  • Food coloring optional
  • For Decoration:
  • Baby-themed toppers e.g., fondant rattles, baby shoes, or edible blocks
  • Sprinkles or edible glitter
  • Piping bags with assorted nozzles

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • Mix dry ingredients: Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Cream butter and sugar: Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients: Alternately add dry ingredients and buttermilk, mixing gently.
  • Bake the cake: Divide batter into pans and bake for 25–30 minutes. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
  • Frost and decorate: Frost with buttercream and decorate with baby-themed toppers, sprinkles, and edible glitter.
